CVCC to host first "Cabin Fever" Shoot on Sat. Feb. 25th
Submitted by SmokepolerRoy on Tue, 01/31/2012 - 3:18pmThe Coon Valley Conservation Club and its Shooting Ranges Improvement Committee is hosting an “Open Fun Shoot” for members and the general public. There will opportunities to shoot muzzleloaders, pistols, rimfires and big bores on our new ranges.
The shoot rules and format will be -
1. Entry Fee will be one shooting related item worth at least $5.00 for each shoot entered. (Youth 17 and under shoot for free.)

January Winner in the Raffle for Serious Sportsmen

The lucky winner of the Mathews Z7 Compound Bow with a retail value of $899.00 was Tony Galang of Menomonee Falls, WI. Our next drawing will take place at the February 23rd.

The lucky winner of the T/C Encore Endeavor Model 5724 .50 Cal MuzzleLoader with a retail value of $1005.00 was Josh Bendel. Next month a new Calender Raffle starts. Conceal Carry Class
Submitted by admin on Fri, 12/30/2011 - 3:29pmThe CVCC will be hosting a Conceal carry Class to qualify for Wisconsin and Utah permits. Class will cover the legalities of conceal carry and what to expect while carrying. A Utah permit is required to enter Minnesota; Minnesota does not recognize Wisconsin and will not, but does recognize Utah. There will be NO live fire on the range for this class, but if enough people are interested a class can be set up at a later date.
2011 CVCC Buck Contest Results
Submitted by SmokepolerRoy on Fri, 12/30/2011 - 2:26pmThis year's winner taking both the rack and weight catagories was Roger Anderson with an 11 point 19 5/8" spread 206.6 pound buck followed closely by Rod Ofte only 1/8" behind with his 8 pointer. Other racks presented were a 10 pointer taken by Royce Curtis with his traditional .58 caliber muzzleloader and a heavy 10 pointer taken by Dave Larson with his bow. 2012 CVCC Sponsored WI DNR Hunter Safety Education Classes Scheduled
Submitted by SmokepolerRoy on Wed, 12/21/2011 - 11:08pmThe Coon Valley Conservation Club is sponsoring their annual Wisconsin Basic Hunter Education course beginning in February. The course will be held each Thursday at the Coon Valley Village Hall from 3:45 PM to 6:00 PM beginning on February 2, 2012 ending on March 15, 2012. There will also be two Saturday morning classes at the Coon Valley Conservation Club on Mar. 3 and Mar. 17 from 9 AM to Noon. There is no minimum or maximum age. Parents are encouraged to enroll and participate.

Gun Range Update
Submitted by SmokepolerRoy on Fri, 11/11/2011 - 10:19amGun ranges are open for members use. Anticipated heavy use is expected with sight-in's for the upcoming gun deer seasons. With that in mind please be safe, courteous and use common sense when on the ranges.
1. Scopes can be "zero'ed" using either the 25 yd backstops in the pistol or .22 ranges (If they are not in use.) before moving to the Big Bore range for final adjustments.
2. On the BIG BORE Range - use the LEFT Bench for the 200 yd targets and the RIGHT Bench for the 100 yd targets.
Gun Range Open for Members Use (Check Out the Photo Gallery!)

Shooting benches and target stands have been installed as well as the Drive Thru and Walk Thru gates plus temporary fencing at the range entrance. There is a 25 yd target stand on the pistol range with one shooting bench, a 25 yd and a approx. 60+yd target stand with one shooting bench on the .22/muzzleloader range, and a 100 yd and a 200 yd stand on the rifle range with 2 shooting benches. Ranges are available from 8 AM until dusk on a first come first served basis for CVCC members.
