The CVCC DNR Hunter Safety Education team successfully certified all 27 students participating in the On-Line class final Field Day on Saturday, April 27th. Students spent the morning with demonstrations and hands on practice with firearms, tree stand safety, hunting techniques, and live firing of .22 rifles and 20 ga. shotguns. Students practiced safe firearm handling, safe carries, and shooting positions. Following a presentation by Conservation Warden Shawna Stringham students completed both written and practical tests. Class average was 97% with several students recording perfect scores.
Volunteer instructors were Steve Pauloski, Corky Roethel, Don Primmer, Dick Wallin, Garry Butterfield, Pete Halbleib and Royce Curtis. The next CVCC sponsored Hunter Safety Education classes will begin in February of 2014.
