2011 HUNTER EDUCATION CLASSES
The Coon Valley Conservation Club is sponsoring their annual Wisconsin Basic Hunter Education course beginning in February. The course will be held each Thursday at the Coon Valley Village Hall from 3:45 PM to 6:00 PM beginning on February 3, 2011 ending on March 17, 2011. There will also be two Saturday morning classes at the Coon Valley Conservation Club on Mar. 5 and Mar. 19 from 9 AM to Noon. There is no minimum or maximum age. Parents and adults are encouraged to enroll and participate. A Parent or Guardian must attend the first class to complete and sign registration forms for any student under the age of 18. Advance registration is reqired. Please contact Royce Curtis at 608-452-309 to reserve you spot. The course fee is $10.00 and covers all necessary materials. Persons born on or after
1-1-73 must have a hunter education certificate to purchase any regular Wisconsin hunting license. (Persons 10 years or older can participate in the special Mentored Hunting Program without this certification. However, we encourage these hunters and their mentors to enroll in this course.)
Persons successfully completing the course will receive a basic hunter education graduate certificate and a distinctive embroidered emblem. Young students certified will be able to purchase a hunting license in any state, and hunt alone (with parental permission) when they turn 14. Classes will cover hunting topics such as hunting equipment and methods, rules and regulations, ethics, responsibility, first aid and survival, principles of wildlife management, and basic firearms knowledge and safety. Hunting can be fun when done properly. We need better educated hunters to protect the positive image and traditions of hunting not only for today, but for the future as well. Volunteer instructors for this class are Roger Anderson, Al Haakenson, Charlie Nelson, Corky Roethel, Steve Pauloski, Lillian Primmer and Royce Curtis.
STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS MUST CONTACT THE INSTRUCTOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE COURSE TO REQUEST SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS.
Note: An On-Line section of this class is available for those students who cannot attend the regular scheduled class. Enrollment numbers are restricted for this type of class.
