The Shooting Ranges Improvement Committee presented their "Concept Plan" for shooting range improvements at the January 27, 2011 membership meeting. The overall goal of the committee is to improve our shooting ranges for now and the future. The CVCC already has one of the best 3D archery ranges in this area and the committee feels we should also have one of the best firearms ranges as well.
The plan was developed after a full year of study by the committee which included study of materials from the National Shooting Sports Foundation and the NRA, visits to and studies of other shooting ranges, and a range evaluation by the NRA Range Technical Team. The plan incorporates all of the recommendations from the NRA evaluation report and provides safe and functional shooting areas for pistol, both small and big bore rifle, muzzleloader and shotgun. CVCC members reviewed the activities of the committee and the diagram of the "Concept Plan". After a discussion period with many questions and concerns addressed the members approved the plan with no descenting votes.
The next step in this process is for the committee to identify experienced contractors and invite them to CVCC to provide construction details and costs for implementing the plan. These details and costs will be presented to the members for approval.
Shooting Ranges Improvement Committee members are: Co-chairs – Jim Brower and Royce Curtis, Kevin King, Adam Gartner, John Halverson, Bill Marquardt, Scott Hobson, and John Moe
